National
Apprentice Kickstart Extension
  The Apprentice Kickstart Extension triples the first year incentive payment to small and medium-sized employers (with less than 200 employees) who put on a new young apprentice in a skills shortage trade between 12 May 2010 and 12 November 2010 (inclusive).

Tools For Your Trade Payment Initiative
  This payment will be available to Australian Apprentices in selected trade occupations, agricultural occupations, and if in rural and regional Australia, horticulture occupations. The new payment comprises five tax exempt cash payments totalling $3,800 paid over the life of the Australian Apprenticeship.

Centrelink payments for Australian Apprentices
  In an effort to address national skills needs and encourage people to enter Australian Apprenticeships, the Australian Government has put in place arrangements that give Australian Apprentices access to the following fortnightly payments delivered by Centrelink: Youth Allowance, Austudy and ABSTUDY.

Productivity Places Program (PPP)
  Under the Skilling Australia for the Future initiative, the Australian Government has funded the Productivity Places Program (PPP) which will deliver 711,000 training places over 5 years. These training places are being delivered in an industry-driven system, ensuring that training is more responsive to the needs of businesses and participants.

Extra pre-vocational training support for young job seekers - Fact sheet
  The Australian Government is investing $30.2 million for additional pre-vocational support places to help vulnerable young people into an apprenticeship or further training.

Securing Australian Apprenticeships - Fact Sheet
  Two new initiatives, Securing Apprenticeships and Traineeships and Securing Apprenticeships and Traineeships through Registered Training Organisations, are part of the Government's plan to provide a pathway for out-of-trade Australian Apprentices to remain connected to the workforce and maintain their investment in training. Smarter Apprenticeships
  The Smarter Apprenticeships Program will provide industry with the means to adopt and foster support for accelerated training delivery and drive structural change to industry training delivery to embed true competency-based training for apprentices.

Skills Australia
  Skills Australia is an independent statutory body providing advice to the Minister for Education, Employment and Workplace Relations on Australia's current, emerging and future workforce skills needs and workforce development needs.

New South Wales Productivity Places Program

Partnering Training for Older Workers (PTOW)
  The strategy aims to develop partnerships with employers, Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and community service organisations to deliver training and work experience to mature age job seekers 40 years and older, to help them find work or improve their skills.

The Victorian Training Guarantee 2010 Factsheet
  Under changes to the Victorian TAFE and training system, there are now an unlimited number of government-subsidised training places available for people who meet the eligibility criteria.

Industry Guides for Apprenticeships and Traineeships in Victoria

Apprentice Completion Bonus and Trade Bonus Scheme
  These bonuses provide an additional financial incentive to employers and Australian Apprentices to ensure that greater numbers of apprentices and trainees complete their training. Eligibility criteria apply.

QLD
Out-of-Trade Register established in Queensland
  Apprentices and trainees whose training contracts have been cancelled or are at risk of being cancelled, and who are looking to secure employment, in order to complete their training, can provide their details to be posted on the Out-of-Trade Register. Employers can then access the list online.
