Research employer lists and other contacts
If there are no suitable Australian Apprenticeships available we suggest you seek an opportunity out for yourself.  One of the easiest to access employer lists is the Yellow Pages Directory.  Use the Yellow Pages (hard copy or via the internet at www.yellowpages.com.au ) to get a list of local employers who may employ people in the Australian Apprenticeships you are interested in.  Make sure that you include the employer’s address and telephone number in your list.
''
You can then contact the employer by telephone and ask for the name of the person responsible for hiring new staff and their job title.  Don’t forget to write the name and job title down, and also check the address where this person is located and if possible ask for the person's email address.
''
You should also use your own friends and family networks to see if they have any employer contacts in the areas of work that you are interested in.

''
See the “Getting Started” and “Selling Yourself” menu items in the Self Help section for information on resumes and covering letters, and the “Step by Step Guide” for a plan on how to use the contact details you have obtained. “
